Bulldogs stay strong

Batley Bulldogs continued their good start to their Northern Rail Cup campaign with a 34-26 victory over Whitehaven that lifted them up to third in Pool A.

Dylan Skee opened the scoring with an early try for hosts Whitehaven but Jonny Campbell responded almost immediately and that set the tone for a close encounter.

The Bulldogs led 24-18 at half-time but Rob Jackson levelled matters with 10 minutes to go only for Paul Handforth to take advantage of a Haven mistake and cross for the winning score.
